Hi folks,

I have attempted to install, and use, SP2 on two occasions now and I
haven't been able to figure out what happens.

I have a home network, built around a DSL connection (with static IP),
a Linksys Router, W2k Advanced Server (local.mysite.com), static
assignment of IP addresses in the 192.168.x.x range on all machines
including the router for the gateway address.

All works fine until SP2 is installed at which point I am unable to
"see the network, connect to the internet, Outlook email can see the
gateway any longer, etc.

My gut tells me this is a name resolution problem, but I'll be darned
if I can figure it out.

Any help would be most appreciated.

All these related SP2 problems are encouraging me to wait and wait and
wait. Who needs these kinds of problems? And so it goes.

Have you tried turning off the Windows Firewall? SP2 has it turned on be
default, and it may be conflicting with your network, especially if you have
a another firewall running. Although, I have Zone Alarm personal and I am
not having any problems with it (yet).

Thanks for the suggestion. I had tried that without success. About the
only thing I haven't tried is to take the NIC out of the equation by
unchecking under "Advanced" in the settings.
