XP SP2 laptop incredibly slow to resume

Hello,

my GF's HP Pavilion dv1000 laptop running XP SP2 takes forever to resume
from Standby or Hibernation. It actually takes less time to start up
from completely powered off.

Was wondering if anyone knows how I go about determining what is causing
the slowdown?

I have no good advice on how to speed up the sleepy laptop from Standby and
Hibernation, other than provide you with reference to a link, where you as
