Is anyone else having problems with XP SP2 and Trend Micro's
OfficeScan client?

The OfficeScan Personal firewall service, even though it is disabled
by OfficeScan policy, is hanging upon startup and causing machines to
take an additional 1-2 minutes to display the logon dialog.

Additionally, the OfficeScan Watchdog service is crashing on startup
about 50% of the time. It eventually restarts itself successfully, but
only after displaying an error message after login.

In a press release, Trend Micro claims to support XP SP2:

I did ask them. I just want to know if anyone else is having similar
problems. That is the whole point of newsgroups after all

We are also having this problem. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a
solution to the problem and Trend is slow to respond. If anybody knows
what the problem is, or how to fix it, please let me know.

Thanks,

Nathan

I am also seeing this problem. The only workaround I have is to
disable the personal firewall to increase the logon time. I've called
Trend and they deny knowing of any problems regarding this

We got the same problem, and like the other say, TM is very slow to respond.
But we got an additional error. Seldom users get a BSOD after logon. This
never happens if the user has admin rights or the Officescan Client ist
uninstalled before. Happens about 5% of the time, and on every same machine
we tried it. And those are about one hundred machines so far.
