I just installed the update (?) and NOW MY PC IS SLOWER
than my old 286.

What's going on???

I would advise anyone wanting to install this update to
MAKE A RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING THE XP SP-1 UPDATE
in case the update becomes a retrograde on their PC.

BE CAREFUL!

Please don't post the same message separately in multiple groups - this is a
waste of bandwidth and causes those of us trying to help to have to read the
same message multiple times (many of us monitor 15-20 groups).

If you think it is necessary to post the same message in multiple groups
(and 2 or 3 at most is best), then put all of the group addresses in the
same message header, separated by a comma. This will allow it to be read in
several groups without appearing as a "new" post in each to someone who has
already read it in another
group.

Thank you

You shouldn't need to. When you are installing it, one of the options is to
back-up the files that it overwrites/changes. Then if you want to remove
it, you go to Add/Remove and remove it the usual way.
