XP Slow Down

Hi All,
He's a nice one for you to ponder over!

I have just upgraded a customers machine from an old Win98SE machine to a
brand spanking new Compaq 310 running XP sp1.
All seems fine with it, but on occasions when he is moving from one folder
to another looking for a specific file to open (either in Word or Excel) it
seems to hang for a few minutes and then continues as if all OK again.

I know it sounds trivial, but this guy is the Finance Director and he wants
it sorting - it didn't do it with Win98Se (although it was slower to move
from folder to folder) so why all of a sudden does it keep hanging like
this.

Any/All suggestions welcome - I am pretty sure that DNS is set up
correctly, although they have mixed mode domains, in that one domain is W2K
Server SP3 and the other domain is NT4 Sp6. The NT4 server serves primarilly
as their Exchange5.5 and Proxy server, and the W2K server is the main server
running Active Directory, DHCP, DNS,WINS, SQL Server2000 and file & printer
sharing.

TIA
Mark G.

Thanks John, but he's already got 640Mb of RAM and isn't really stretching
it.
Maye I''ll look at increasing him to 1Gb, just to see.

Thanks again
M.
