My problem is that my computer which is using Xp as its
op system, closes its self down and restarts.
It would appear to be an intermitant fault, as it only
appears to occur when I am on the internet. However it
dose not happen every time. The error message reads as
follows.

***Stop: 0x0000008E
(0XC0000005,0XBF8A6204,0XEE3C06E8,0X00000000)

WIN32K.SYS - Address BF8A6204,base at BF800000,DATESTAMP
3DB6D462

I think it may be a driver or hardware issue. Can anyone
please give me some advice on this issue

Many Thanks

Richard

I had a similar problem. Obviously it's hardware realted, but it too me days
of tweking to realise that it was ( in my case ) memory related. I dropped
the speed of my RAM and the problem stopped.
Hope it helps

Turn of the auto start on failure feature. start\control
panel\system\advanced tab\under startup and recovery click
the settings button. Now uncheck "automatically restart"
Then use your event viewer. In control panel double click
administrative tools to open then click the event viewer.
Now double click any one of the three logs on the left to
open the events in the right pane. Now look for any red
Xs. Double clicking these opens a details windows and will
give you a clue as to what maybe causing your problem. If
you believe it to be driver related then get the XP
drivers from each manufacturers site. This goes for your
mouse\keyboard\video card\sound card\monitor\and anything
else you can think of. Keep smiling

Try a program called Burn in test professional 3.2. There is an evaluation
version for download:
