xp shutting down after start up

each time I turn on my computer xp starts up and then the
screen turn blank after approx 10secs. I have followed all
the instructions in the help section other than re-
installing xp - which I am not keen to do. Is it possible
that the graphics card is the problem? Computer is working
fine in safe mode. I did uninstall the graphics card and
this seemed to help initially (xp stayed on until I tried
to select a user) but the problem is still there. any help
appreciated.
