Merry Christmas, Buon Natale, Felice Navadas, al mondo.
Two days ago my five year old Hewlett Packard PAvillion 400MHZ 256k ram
using Windows XP Pro original edition started acting weirdly and I
haven't been able to get around the situation yet.
Here's what it has begun to do every time I try and boot up.
It boots fine and then the screen pops up where I have to enter my
password. When I enter the password, the computer goes to the screen
with the beautiful wide open spaces scene for about one second like it
is going to load normally. It says "Loading your personal settings"
Then a couple of second later it says "Logging off" and returns to the
screen where I can type in my password again. It will do this over and
over.
That as far as it goes. It does the same thing on both accounts that I
have on my computer. I also tried booting into the various safe mode
options, but it still hangs at the same point.
I have never seen this before, and have no clue as to how to get up to
the desktop where I can run Norton Utilities, Pest Patrol, and Ad-A-Ware
to see if I have some nasty virus, or worm infecting my computer.
Does anyone know what is causing this, and how a proper fix can be
effected? My Christmas has been ruined totally!
Peace on Earth and good will to people who are not blood thirsty!
