xp Home shuts down by itself and has to be reset, sometimes more than once before it will reboot. I have deleted documents, ran the disk defragmenter, and disk clean up, have blew out the dust in and around the fan. Nothing has worked so far. Help!

It could be due to spywhere infection......try to download a good
spywhare/malware to detect and clean the PC...... I personally used
"prevx1" which is wonderfull and now my PC is ok.

Sometimes this can be caused by an error condition when the default
"automatically restart" option is in effect for system failure class
errors and the computer does not respond properly to the restart
command, shutting down instead.

1. Open Control Panel - System - Advanced and click on the Settings
button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom) section. In the Startup
and Recovery window click on the checkbox for "Automatically restart"
to clear it. This may put an end to the random shutdowns. However
they may be replaced by a "Blue Screen Of Death" STOP error message.
If that does happen then the contents of the STOP message, including
the STOP code, all 4 parameters, and any file or module names
mentioned will be a direct clue as to the underlying cause.

2. Right-click on "My Computer" and select Manage. Expand the Event
Viewer category (click on the + sign) and browse through the
subcategories looking for entries, especially any red-flagged error
entries, whose date and time stamps correspond to your random
shutdowns. Double-click on an error entry to see the details of that
error. Post the error record details back here if you need further
assistance with them.

Good luck
