Okay, so I'm working on a basic program we use at work
and all of a sudden the mouse will go crazy all over the
place and starts to shut down random programs. I have
scanned for viruses; we have multiple firewalls; I'm
using Norton antivirus and scanning weekly using Spybot
search and destroy. I use QB (on my system only) and
it's critical that I don't shut down in the middle of
something. I've gone to the download site to check for
critical updates and there is nothing I haven't updated.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem with WinXP???
Ah, format and restore is not in the plan, so please
don't even suggest that. I am on a Network server and
the only one in the office using the XP version. Help!!!!

Sounds like a virus, in spite of all your efforts. Could be the multiple
firewalls - you should only run one software firewall at a time.

I was not aware the Quick Basic is compatible with XP (actually, I
didn't know that QB was still kicking around!). Anyway, right-click the
QB executable, properties, compatibility, and select the OS
compatibility for the OS version that your QB was published for.

Also Google: quickbasic xp for additional comments about XP
compatibility. Start here:
