XP shutdown problem

Last night I shut down my computer, expecting it to turn
itself off like it always has. When I got up this
morning the windows is shutting down window was still on
the screen. Now it won't shut down. Has anyone else had
this problem since win 98?

yes i have had the same problem and pushing the power

button will not turn it off either. so i have to unplug
it and now i cant open any of my windows!!!!!!!!
