XP Shut Down

Hi,
I'm having problems shutting down XP, it seems to hang for a very long time
before it actually shuts down. I ran a virus scan and ADware scan and there
seems to be nothing running in the background. I have a Dell 8100 with
XP-SP2 512MB, Can anyone help.
