Hi guys! Yesterday I had the internet installed(BigPond cable) and since it was connected, my computer has been rebooting when using the internet. Does anyone else suffer this problem? And how do i fix? I have installed service pack 1 and the critical updates that i was told were required. I am also running antivirus software(norton's) I rang BigPond and they said it was a problem with Microsoft and i
needed a
firewall program. Any support/assistance would be fantastic! Thanks everyone. Rachel
If you get a message about Remote Procedure Call, then you have the Blaster worm. If not, it could be another virus, worm, spyware. You need to use your Norton. Turn of System Restore first. (Caution -- all prior restore points will be wiped out.) Don't forget to turn System Restore back on after you finish. Then, to protect your computer, you need the following: A good firewall like Zone Alarm or the built in XP firewall ZoneAlarm is available free at:

Ad-Aware 6.0 - for removing spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ Spybot Search & Destroy - for removing spyware
http://www.safer-networking.org/ CWShredder - gets rid of page hijackers
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html Google Toolbar - for blocking popups
http://toolbar.google.com/ Before running these, do the following: Delete temporary internet files and internet history.
I recommend ZoneAlarm. The link is above. It's free and the interface is easy.
Also, even if it's not the Blaster worm, you have something going on, so please follow the instructions from my first post. Either Norton or one of the other programs should catch whatever it is.
