I'm really not sure where to start with my problem. I usually turn on my pc
in the afternoon and let it run until i go to sleep at night. I did
everything (closed all programs etc) that i normally do and then shut down my
computer. The next day I started my comp up and at the screen displaying
"Windows" by itself I recieved the error "Explorer failed to initialize
properly (0xc0000005)" Windows will continue to open but at this point the
only way I'm able to open anything is through task manager. I figured a
re-install of windows would solve the problem, but everytime i go through the
setup process (upgrade and/or complete re0installation) after the first
reboot I get another error saying that no cd-rom drive can be detected. I've
checked the support area of the website for the original problem with
explorer, and most solutions are for other programs not running and the
solution require explorer to run so I can choose start, then run. Since I
can't get to any of the registries that way, is there any other way around
it? Also, I'm not sure why windows cannot find my cd-rom drive. I've tried
using both the dvd and dvd-rw drive, and neither work. If anyone could offer
any help I'd appreciate it. I'm not very technically inclined, so I'm not
sure what other information would be relevant, but if told what I need I'm
sure I can let you know.
Thanks..
