xp set up problem on disk 6

i've loaded the set up disks and when i get to disk 6 i
get the error - STOP: C0000221 UNKNOWN HARD/ERROR\SYSTEM
ROOT|SYSTEM 321 NTDLL.DLL

does anyone know what this means and what i can do - it's
a new pc i'm building - the hard drive is unformatted and
unpartioned.

Why are you making life difficult? Set the BIOS to boot from the CD - it
contains everything you need to format and partition the drive.
