i posted a while ago about a problem with windows xp booting up poorly, causing a minimum of 3 minutes at the desktop screen before i could execute anything. i thought it was a problem with the imapi.exe program file, but after quite a lot of troubleshooting, and by shutting off windows services one at a time, i discovered that it was the workstation service that was causing the problem. i have all of the windows updates available, and this same problem occurred between my athlon xp 2700+ machine and the celeron 633, so i dont believe that there is a hardware problem. everything seems to be fine now that the workstation service has been shut off, but i would like to know what was the matter before.

i was reading through other posts on the same subject, and found krispytoast's unfinished topic to be of the same issue. like him, no i am not on a network, and btw i am running xp pro
