xp service pack2 update

I have XP Pro installed, with automatic updates,can
anyone tell me if it is important or necessary to
download Service pack 2 in addition to the auto
updates which are currentand up to date,I have not been
using computer's for long ,and am unsure, secondly
service pack 2 is 260mb long and will take me past my
download limit with my provider, any help is greatly
appreciated.

Yes - SP2 is classed as a critical update you should seriously consider
installing it.

Anyone who is using an ISP with download limits should not be using a
computer.

Get a real ISP first, and then worry about updates.
