I have two computers that are running XP Pro and cannot get the network
connections to appear after I install SP2. Also, when I try to get on the
internet from my other computer that doesn't have the internet connection, I
have to repair the connection from both computers before I can get on the
internet. There are more problems that i'm having but this is the main
problems that i'm having. Any help would be nice

That appears to be sage advice.

The above url approaches a multitude of possibilites, which apparently it does well.
It seems there is almost a specific problem that many people are reporting, and it
would seem someone should have put together a single description to solve it. I've
only become familiar with this page in the last several hours, but it looks like pp
15-16 might be where the common connection problem is solved. The url is 31 pages.
Print preview might help one cut down on printed pages.

Just my two cents.

Any way you could trim your sig to follow Usenet standards that have
been in place for more than 20 years?

4 lines should be enough for anyone.

Interesting. I've been using the internet for nearly 15 years, send out about 5000
e-mails a year, and only about 5-6 people per year complain about it. You're number 6
this year. Sorry, I don't follow anyone's standards.

I don't understand. The web page contains an analysis engine
that analyzes your particular problem and shows only the
relevant solutions after you fill in the form.

What does the selections line show after you fill in the form
(at the end of the form, just above the three buttons)?

Can anybody give more info about the original question asked? What is
causing the network connections to disappear after upgrading to SP2? It
seems to be random, no commonalities between events. Outgoing connectivity is
still fine, (i.e. ping, domain authentication, drive mapping ,etc.), you just
can't change the network connection settings because they don't exist and you
can't see the box from other networked machines.

Are you the original poster, or is this a different network than Chris
describes?

Is your problem constant or intermittent? What is random?

Did you enable the File and Printer Sharing exception in Windows Firewall?

Provide ipconfig information for each computer, as a start.
1) Start - Run - "cmd".
2) Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command window.
3) Open Notepad, make sure that Format - Word Wrap is NOT checked!.
4) Open file c:\ipconfig.txt from Notepad.
5) Copy and paste entire contents of the file into your next post.
