Since loading SP2 I cannot access basic features within my internet banking
using IE v6. I get an error saying Permission Denied. The bank says the
problem is with XP SP2 and cannot offer help. What can be done about it.

Thanks for this information.

I worked through the list of suggestions right down to but not including the
line containing "Reregister .dll files" and tried the banking software
again. I managed to get the missing feature working the first time I tried
it but it failed on the second attempt of accessing the feature. This is
very strange.

Have Microsoft introduced a bug in their XP SP2 or is there something I have
missed. I could try all the instructions in this document but I am hoping
someone will come up with a definitive reason as to what is happening.

I've just reverse engineered XP SP2, and, yes, it's definitely a bug in SP2!!!
I recommend avoiding the upgrade as it is detrimental to the currently stable
SP1 platforms that run everything fine everyday. Good luck and avoid jumping
on bandwagons next time, sucker.

With all due respect, telling someone they are a "sucker" is not what this
group is all about. If you have not a positive solution to this person's
problem - remain still.

There is no bug in XP SP2, or at least here, as my online banking works just
as it did before SP2. I would suggest using MS tech support and troubleshoot
the problem.

Why does Microsoft insist on breaking things that have worked for donkey's
years?

Seeing Internet banking without one time only passwords is inherently
unsafe, that may be a good thing!

Really?
That statement lacks any type of relevant information.
If true to both points above you can give information on your
findings.

Myself and others computers run fine with SP-2.
Why are you incapable of succeeding where others succeed?

Thank you for providing users here your business location.
You have given a location users should avoid if complete and accurate
information is desired.

Some people just can't take a joke. All I'm saying is that M$ seem to upset a
lot of their user-base, every time they come up with something new. Perhaps
they could just get their current stuff working properly instead.

You did not even suggest it was a joke.
You have an interesting way of representing

"Perhaps they could just get their current stuff working properly

That is exactly what SP-2 is doing.
Some computers have problems with SP-2.
Name an application used near as widely as SP-2 with less issues?
The fact SP-2 works with such a wide variety of computers demonstrates
that.
