I loaded the three patches to both my desktop and my
laptop on Feb 26, 2004. Now when I try to access the
internet from my laptop via my wireless lan (netgear
wireless router), I am forced to de-activate the WEP in
order for the laptop to successfully connect. I used to
just turn on the laptop and the internet connection was
automatic. How can I undo or modify this problem so I
can once again connect automatically? I would prefer not
to do a system restore. Thanks for your help,
Sincerely, Russ

Hi Russ,

One of the recent Windows XP updates was support for WPA. You may need to
get a driver update for your Netgear card and/or a firmware update for this
to work. One possible workaround is to remove the update for WPA until
your card drivers are updated.

Russ,
Hey you need to re-enter you key to access the
network. WEP is a security encryption. You can find the
key in your router settings (assuming you are the admin)
in internet explorer. Sometimes its a passphrase
protection. Once you have setup the laptop it will
automatically connect on the next boot. hope this helps
