to undelete files in windows xp?

Windows XP does not have a "scandisk" utility. It uses "CheckDisk"
for correcting system file errors. One should always perform periodic
backups of important personal files to avoid a crisis situation.

Search and Recover is a powerful arsenal of tools designed to instantly
recover deleted, destroyed, and damaged items from your PC. Such items
include files, folders, songs, pictures, videos, programs, critical system
components, web pages, and even e-mail messages. Search and Recover
works with any drive (hard or floppy of any size and format), and can even
recover deleted photos, songs, and more from digital cameras, MP3 players,
USB flash drives, and other digital devices.

Windows XP chkdsk (not scandisk) will not delete anything that is not
corrupted. There was something wrong with your file to begin with. Chkdsk
found that and could not repair it, so the file was deleted. You can not
recover this by anything that is built in to Windows XP. You will need 3rd
party software.

Search in Google for "file recovery" and look through the many hits you will
receive.
