xp saftware compatibility

Is is trur that if I get a new computer with XP I cannot
run any older software and that even my MSFT excel
spreadsheets will not open in XP and I will have to re-
create them in XP? I currently have all kinds of stuff in
Win 98.
 
Not true at all, you should be able to run older software without any probs.
Office 97(excel 97) and above will work fine on xp.

Some older programs may not work. Most do though. Also, Office 97 apps
and up should work fine and you shouldn't have any trouble opening files
previously created by those apps.
