Hi All

Been having problems loading Nero, as per another post of mine. In
order to see if something else I loaded was causing the problem I tried
to go back to a restore point where only well known apps had been
laoded. Despite a goodly sized list of restore points showing - over
three days I was not able to go back to ANY of them. On OKing a go back
the computer would spend some time loading lots of files, and then
reboot. When the boot was completed each time a message came up saying
Windows could not retore to a that restore spot. I tried 6 different
restore points, but the result was the same each time - the ones I tried
included one I had set, and the others were those set by Windows.

Not much use that feature if it doesn't do what it is supposed to

Would you happen to have more than one drive and are they both included in
system restore?

HI
My laptop was behaving similar to yours it was taking longer to 'restore'
until eventually it failed to 'reboot' after restoring and I had to use the
System Recovery discs which re-installed XP. So make sure that you have
backups of all data that you need!! Since restoring System Restore is
working fine. One thin I have noticed is that since restricting system
restore to 3% of my C drive roughly 1024MB it the system doesn't create many
Restore Points. I would have preferred that it created them weekly and
discarded older ones to make room for more recent ones. They go back to the
beginning of May, ones which I will not need as I have more recent ones that
are fine.

Yep. I have 2 xHDs - I have the one that XP is on set to save restore
points, and the set to no restore points

Can that cause this problem?

Hi Lynne

I think we have different problems - when I went to the restore wizard
thingo it listed a lot of restore points - but wouldn't restore to any
of them even tho before shutting down it went thru a longish process of
"installing files". But then after it rebooted it just kept dsaying
"cannot return to restore point" (well something like that - forgot the
actually words)

Thanks for the answer though

David
