My hard drive crashed yesterday and I had to reinstall XP Pro. Fortunately, I had installed the OS in its own partition so only that was reformatted. My Documents was saved on a different partition. Unfortunately, I can no longer access that My Documents folder. It gives me an error window saying it is "no longer accessible." "Access is denied." I'm sure it has something to do with being a "different" user now. How can I get back into that folder

Please help! Thanks!!

Lucky that you have Pro. Try this, in an explorer window
go to Tools/folder Options/View tab. Scroll to bottom
where you'll see Use simple File Sharing (or something
like that) UN tick it. go to the folder you want and
right clk on it. Go to properties/Security. You can take
ownership of the document. All of this assumes the files
were never incrypted. If they are, well, you're.... Play
around with it and you'll figure it out hopefully. Good
luck.

what if you have Windows XP Home Edition, does it mean you won't be able to access that folder again?

In XP Home you have to boot in safe mode to see the
security tab to take ownership of a file or folder.
