Download this program (X-Setup). It shows the # in there and alot more:

if you already installed it and registered it then NO.
when you installed it and registered it you oem was
recorded along with your computer info. So if you try on
another computer that doesnot have the same
configerations then it will not allow the
instalation.Microsoft did this so people could not give
it to other people to download(It's a case of greed)
Good Luck

Greed?
On whose part?
The buyer maybe?
The Seller?
Microsoft?
All three have something to gain with OEM.
OEM is significantly cheaper than retail.
Tying OEM Windows to the original computer is only one of the many
reasons you pay less for your OEM Windows than retail.

The Product Key is on a 1" x 3" sticker affixed to the computer,
normally on the side or bottom.
Contact HP if sticker is missing.
The CD you buy will most likely not work with her OEM Product Key.

If once you've istalled XP, and then it won't let you
load on to a computer of a different config, What the hell
ya sapose to do when you upgrade??... I've ran my same 98
though 5 upgrades... I bought a copy of xp when I did my
last, but didn't install cause of the XtraProliferent
problems had by other family members...Sooo glad I
haven't...

If you are referring to your sisters HP, take it up with HP.
They are the ones to provide the method of reinstallation/recovery.
