In the XP Registry:

In HKEY_USERS & HKEY_CURRENT_USER it looks like all
domains visited get listed in the domains folder:

software/microsoft/windows/current version/internet
settings/zone map/domains

Can the resistry be stopped from caching these domains and
if so what impact?

Is there an automated tool to scan the registry and delete
these domain entries?

Thanks,

Nick

Are you using spywareblaster or the immunize funtion of spybot search and destroy?
If so this is where their info is kept. Leave alone.

I don't see this on my system. The domains subkey is virtually empty.

Hi Doug,
Awhile back I ran pest patrols online scan it found xxxtoolbar.com and pointed to the domain section in the registry as in Nick's post, I deleted it.The next time I opened up spywareblaster it showed 1 protection disabled "xxxtoolber.com I enabled it and reran pest patrol and their it was again. That is why I believe it is part of the immunize funtion of this program.
Nick are you using these?

I second what MAP said. I have both SpywareBlaster and Spybot S&D
Immunize function enabled and I have a *lot* of entries in...........

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Domains

I don't know which program the entries are from, but a lot of the entries
match what's in my HOSTS file.

HOSTS file from >>>

MVPS HOSTS file is a free download from:

Like MAP said leave it alone. ;-)
You're being protected from those sites.
