I already have XP home installed on my computer, but my
provider (Fujitsu) is taking the stand that they have
made it possible for me to restore my computer to the
state it was in when I bought it, so they do not need to
provide a windows CD. I am sick of argueing with them, so
I am wondering if I can use a windows home XP upgrade
disk to upgrade an existing XP home install. The matrix
that microsoft publishes is not clear about this.

Help! Please!

Thanks,

Yes that should work fine.

However if you ever want to do a clean install at some point you will need a
qualifying version of Windows to satisfy the request that the XP Home
Upgrade version will ask for. If you do not have such then perhaps you
should spring for a full version of XP Home. A full version will also
upgrade your present XP Home setup.

HP do the same.

As you would be upgrading like with like, I'm not sure where the upgrade
disk would get you.

If Fujitsu is like HP, you restore from a different partition on your HDD
and, if Windows were to crash, you would need to do that before you could
'Upgrade'.

Sorry if I have missed the point!
