xp recovery discs

I nearly killed my computer and had to use the recovery cds for
E-Machines...now my toolbar and other things have the old gray "windows 98"
look, and I can't seem to bring back the XP look...is there any fix for this?
 
Hi MissBrinda,

You didn't mention what you have tried in order to bring back the XP look.
Have you tried changing the Desktop Theme to Windows XP from Windows Classic
(or other theme that may be enabled)?
