Registration is optional.

What you will need to do is activate. Nothing.

You don't need to register your copy of xp again, but you
do need to activate it. What you may find is that you may
be unable to activate over the internet because you have
changed a major component in your pc. You can, however,
activate via a free phone telephone number.
Try activating via the internet first. If you are unable
to then contact the free phone number that is displayed
on screen.
If you are using a dial up connection and you are unable
to use the phone and have an internet connection at the
same time, do the following.

1/ Click Start followed by All
Programs/accessories/system tools/activate windows
2/ This will start the activation wizard
3/ Follow the wizard through
4/ XP will generate a code number and display it on screen
5/ Now dial the free phone number
6/ Give them the number xp generates
7/ In return they will give you an authorisation number
8/ Type this authorisation number into the space provided
on the activation screen. You may need to clcik ok
afterwards to activate your system
9/ Your system should now activate ok

You may also need to explain that you have changed your
hard drive and that you have removed the copy of xp on
your old hard drive.

Hope this helps
