xp professional removal

a friend of mine installed xp professional on my
computer, but i found out it was a pirated copy. Now I
bought xp home and want to install it but my computer
won't let me. how do i get xp professional off of my
computer.
 
The only way to downgrade is to format and reinstall. If your friend was
nice enough to save the backup files, you may be able to uninstall Pro from
Add/Remove Programs.
 
In the Windows XP Home setup you must format your C partition (A Windows XP
Clean Install) and install XP Home then go back and install all of your
applications again.

Doug, have you seen this option? I was under the impression that
the WinXP Uninstall option was available only on systems originally
upgraded from Win9x/Me.

You will have to do a clean install. The copy of Home you bought - OEM, Full
or Upgrade - should be able to do it. If it is the Upgrade version you *may*
need to have your old Windows 98 or Windows 95 CD-ROM around for
'verification' at some point during the installation routine.

Start your computer and hit Del [ or whatever key it is for your computer ]
to go into the BIOS.

Set the BIOS to boot from the CD-ROM first. Put the WInXP Home ed. in the
CD-ROM and reboot the computer. If you see an option to hit any key to boot
from the CD-ROM then hit a key on the keyboard, say the 'G' key, and the
installation routine will start. Make the appropriate choices.

You do it as part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP Home
CD direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New
Install. When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete
the current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage. You will need to back up data files beforehand. You might find
