Yesterday, I noticed that my keyboard and mouse were progressively freezing up~the connections were fine, could see no issues. Then, as I turned the computer on, the XP window is not coming up at all. I am only getting the HP invent screen. The only thing I am able to do is turn my computer off and on. Help???

Hi

Try pressing F8 continuously after you turn the PC on to get to a screen
with the 'Last Good Known Configuration' option - and try that. If that
doesn't help - again pressing F8 - try to enter Safe Mode for a System
Restore.

Thanks for your help~now I am getting a screen that says PhoenixBIOS at the top, and following several other lines, it say ERROR: FF key stuck.
The F8 key is not taking me to last config or anything else.
Any ideas?? thanks

Hi

Have you tried a different keyboard to see if that helps? Try the F5 key
instead of F8.

I am now beginning to think it is my keyboard. I got back into the windows log in screen(somehow) and now the keyboard is not letting me type anything in. But my mouse is also now moving~could there be a connection between a problem with my keyboard and the mouse not functioning? They are both logitech
Thanks~I REALLY appreciate the help

Hi

Are the mouse and keyboard cordless? If so, make sure that the battery
levels are OK.

No,they are not cordless~but when i jiggle the wire on the keyboard, the lights flash on and off like it has a short or disconnect in the wire.
The mouse is connected via wire also, but I am getting no response from the mouse either. The mouse started to fail in the same way and the same time the keyboard did, sporactically at first and then no response.
