I have just had to reinstall windows and put XP
Professional on after i previously had home edition.
Every time i start up now i get the option on which
edition i want to start, it gives me 30 seconds before
loading Professional. Does anyone know how i can get rid
of this?

My Computer::Properties::Advanced - Change the time or select "Edit" and
remove the old profile. You may want to save the file before editing. Be
careful, don't want to confuse the startup process and lose the ability to
start back up.

I cant seem to find this file

Hi

Could you please post the contents of the boot.ini file?

.

Go to Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Click on the BOOT.INI tab and then click on "Check All Boot Paths"
to delete incorrect boot paths.

If the above does not work for you, then:

Right-click MY COMPUTER and select:

Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery Settings > Edit

CAREFULLY edit your boot.ini file to remove the SECOND entry.
Your boot.ini file should then look similar to this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Looks like you may have two XP installs on the same partition. If that is
the case, you should do more than just edit boot.ini. You need to delete the
Windows folder with the unused Home. Follow the steps in the link below.
Click on or copy and paste the link below into your web browser address box.
