I would appreciate if someone gives me more information about formatting & reinstalling xp. I cannot clear "c:" because its the only hard disk (HDD0) & xp doesnot allow me. I ' m already running "xps" and just learned about BIOS (FISRT BOOT DEVICE cd ROM etc.) When i reboot from cd , although there is an option (D) to delete partition ( from the "set up" activity) , system doesnot allow to perfom this (probably because windows xp are already installed there) . Please give some help , how to do it in a safe way , without messing up things [ already two installments (the last over the first) and the memory still has everything in , formatting never took place ].
Thanks & greetings to everyone ,
Good Luck to new users..

Make sure your system is set to boot from the CD drive (BIOS setting)
Put the WinXP CD in the drive and reboot
Choose to install a new copy of Windows (not an upgrade or repair)
When prompted about partitions, choose to delete the partition and then
re-create and format it following the instructions.
If you are following the instructions there should be no reason that it
would not allow the partition to be deleted.

Windows will then be installed on the new and formatted partition.

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. IMMEDIATELY AFTER INSTALLING WINDOWS XP, TURN ON XP'S FIREWALL!

7. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

8. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

9. If you happen to run into any installation difficulties, use the following resources:
