I have a serious problem and am hoping i can get some help. I have built a
new PC for my brother in MI. I am in Va. He called me the other day saying
that he was getting a message " Windows XP could not start because the
following file is missing of corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM" I read
the article #307545 & "Perform a repair installation and I tried to walk him
through the repair he gets a message saying "could not complete installation
because harddrives could not be found. My question is if I can not do a
repair or recovery how can I do a complete reinstall of windows when the hard
drives can not be found. I have to send him a floppy with the hard drive
drivers. I have the drives set up as Raid 0. He does not have a bootable
floopy and I am also sending him one. What other avenues do I need to look
at. I think he may have recieved a virus???? He has 5 kids that also use the
computer!!!! Wh knows what has been down loaded. Any suggestions will be
greately appreciated.

Another problem My brother is not the most computer savy person. So any
fixes please guide me to very detailed instructions.

The best advice for a non-techncal person is to take the PC to a shop,
especially with a RAID configuration.

They can remove the Hard Drive and perform a Virus scan running off a
working PC.

From there they can effect a full repair of XP.
