I installed Windows xp pro over xp home. After installing xp pro, my computer stated that several files didn't load. Now each time I boot up, my computer asks for the xp pro cd rom, but doesn't complete the install.

How can I stop the computer from asking for the xp pro cd rom and go back to using xp home? I tried disconnecting the cd drive, but the xp pro information is on the hard drive. This keeps windows from displaying

Thanks

Can you get into XP Pro at all? How about in Safe Mode?

If so then open Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and see if the XP
Pro Upgrade is listed there. You could uninstall it from there if it
is.

If not then your best bet at this stage would be to do a Repair
Install of your XP Pro as per the instructions at

Good luck
