My HP Presario Notebooks screen is very dim. I was
wondering if anyone has run into this problem before? I
know that notebooks will dim sometimes if the power
supply in unplugged, but it is very dim even when its
plugged in, too dim to even work on it. However I can
plug an external monitor into the notebook and work that
way just fine. Maybe my notebook display is broke? Any
help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hello

Well from what your saying it's your laptop display that is
the problem and it's not software related, am pretty sure
that youhave tried the contrast buttons also. If you have
to replace your laptop screen just so you know it's pretty
expensive.

Sounds like the back light for the display is bad..hardware not
software.
Contact the manufacturer.
Hopefully it is in warranty otherwise buy another laptop as repair may
not be worth it.

One other thing to consider. On your keyboard, check and see if there
is a contrast button. On my Dell, there is the FN key and then keys
like the number 8 with little white/black circles or things on it that
allows you to adjust the brightnes/contrast.
