Immediately after I installed the latest Windows Update (and then rebooted), my system decided to refuse to boot up properly. I get to the screen that says "Windows XP Professional" and shows a progress meter; the system then restarts itself. This is an endless loop
I would appreciate any help; thanks.

Try booting up in safe mode and see if you can remove the patch.

OR

boot up to the XP cd and run a repair on the OS.

OR

Boot up to the last known good config, (usually seems that this doesn't
work, but its worth a shot)

OR

In safe mode see if you can do a system restore (not positive this option
works in safe mode) you get to this by START / HELP and SUPPORT.

Good Luck
