I asked this question the other day.. was referred to
another website... It did not help..
After several days of troubleshooting... I have
determined it is the "Symantec event manager service"
causing my problems...
I have the following symantect software installed.
Norton System works 2003 Standard
PC Anywhere 11.0

Any ideas what to do...

Thanks...

Try to stop Symantec services in: ControlPanel/AdministrativeTools/Services
and than set Startup type:Disabled(Right click on Symantec service and click
Properties).
Than Start/Run/msconfig/Sturtup....Disable Symantec on sturtup.
Try...my probleme with Kaspersky is resolved on that way.

I did that but now NO SYmantec stuff works at all...????
Not a fix just proof that it is Symantec Event Manager.

Sorry... .. ControlPanel/AdministrativeTools/Services
and than set{{{{ Startup type:Manual}}}}...and you will manual sturtup your
Symantec when it need you....
try find answer on Symantec site.I don,t know why but many Antivirus
programs with XP make trouble!!!

Look at the extensive troubleshooter at James Eshelman's page:
specific XP section at
www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm

and look at the possibilities,

To me top one would is to get rid of resident components of SystemWorks
and particularly turn off its LiveUpdate (which seems to be the source
of many of such problems and is I think that service).

You can turn it off experimentally by running MSConfig.exe and on the
Startup page, check 'HIde Microsoft, when the Live update should be
apparent to uncheck so it does not load next boot.
