We used the PC last night and were on the internet just fine. When we tried to get online today, it will not even show the log on screen with our user names on the windows screen. We cannot even get it to boot up any of the desktops. We know that Norton reported no viruses, but we cannot even get online to see if PCcillin can detect anything. Before this happened, we experienced a slow down in pages loading online, the enter key not working on a desktop, and ocassional freezing windows. Then all of a sudden it won't work. Are there any new or unreported worms out there that we might need to check for?

"Then all of a sudden it won't work" is not good enough description of your
problem. It may be a hardware problem or a software. If it is hardware, your
BIOS messages might be helpfull. If it passes BIOS test and you still don't
get to your Windows welcome or logon screen you may consider pressing F8
during boot and choosing "Safe mode". You may start investigating from
there.

Sounds like resources ran low. Do you keep your computer running all the
time?

Do you have two or more computers networked together? OS? Internet
Connection Sharing? Are you connected to a broadband
router/gateway/modem/hub/switch? Have you tried power cycling them (turn
off for 30 secs or so then back on)? Have you rebooted the system that is
giving you problems?

Assuming your AV proggie (Norton) is up-to-date so you prolly don't have any
new infections. Firewall? Did you scan for adware/spyware with Spybot or
AdAware on the of-chance you might have downloaded and installed such
things?

You should still be able to get to the "old style" login prompt by hitting
CTRL-ALT-DEL twice. Once there, log on and check the event log for errors.
Let us know what you find.
