We upgraded our PC from 98 to XP Home last January without
any problems. Since then we have been sure to load all
updates and keep our virus scan up to date.

Now we need to go to XP Pro. We've got the Upgrade disk
but receive one the following two messages when we insert
the CD:
The procedure entry point GetStartupInfo@ could not be
located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.
The procedure entry point GetCommaodLineA could not be
located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll. (Yes,
GetCommaodLineA is what it says.)
The version of KERNEL32.DLL is 5.1.2600.1106. We copied
the file from another computer (thinking this one may be
corrupt) but it was the same version, and we still receive
the message.

I uninstalled all the Windows updates and was able to get past the KERNEL32.DLL errors.

Now when I put the CD in, it whirls for a bit then displays an error message:
Microsoft Wiodows Operatiog System
Error signature
AppName: setup.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.1106 ModName: setup.exe
ModVer: 5.1.2600.1106 Offset: 00001ba8

This is the same ModVer as my KERNEL32.DLL.

Please, someone, help!

Solved our own problem. The CD drive was going out. Once we replaced it, we were able to load XP Pro without any errors.
