If your computer was running XP Home w/SP1, then you cannot upgrade
to XP Pro without using XP Pro w/SP1 integrated. You can do one of two
things:
1. Create a slipstreamed version of XP Pro and perform the upgrade.
2. Perform a "clean install" of XP Pro.

Remember to visit the support website of the manufacturer of your laptop
to obtain the necessary drivers required for your laptop after upgrading.

|I have a laptop that came with XP Home, but I needed XP Pro in order to logon to a domain at work. Well I
purchased a copy of XP and decided that the quick and easy thing to do was to just "upgrade" my OS. Well I
use automatic updates and along the way installed SP1 without even really knowing it. My XP pro did not have
SP1, so now I have XP Pro Set Up hung up on my pc. I can still boot into XP Home so my pc is fully
functional, but I still need to upgrade to XP Pro. Is my only option a clean install?
