Hello,
We are using RIS on a 2003 Server and deploy both XP Pro and 2000 Pro. All
machines are fairly new and all have PXE cards.

I have a Dell Lattitude laptop which is a few years old. It has an
aftermarket Xircom REM56G-100 10/100 RealPort card.

How can I get this thing to boot to the RIS setup wizard like the rest of my
machines? Is it even possible?

I know from w2000 times that RIS was not supported on PCMCIA (RXE or not).
And, the rbfg.exe (Ris Boor Flop Generator) supported, let's say, not an
overwhelming choice of non-RXE nics.
(see: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;242920)
Haven't checked into this aspect with w2003, but wouldn't be surprised if
PCMCIA still isn't supported.

Unfortunately, RIS does not support PCCARD or CardBus adapters even using
the RIS Boot Floppy tool that ships with Server 2000 or Server 2003.

Argon Technology (the original creator of the RBFG.exe tool) sells USB &
CardBus network adapters as well as an enhanced version of the RBFG.exe tool
that you may want to look into:

Hope this helps!

Actually, RIS does work fine with CardBus (not PCCard/PCMCIA) cards that
support PXE, if the computer they are being used on supports both PXE and
CardBus boot. Many Dells I've worked with have this functionality - the
catch is you need a PXE capable card - there is one - from 3Com, the 575.
This was the only PXE capable CardBus card that I am aware of - though Argon
may have made another...
