XP Pro programs

I was under the impression that Windows XP professional
also installed Excel? I was previously working with XP
home.

Where you got that impression, no one knows.
Excel does not come with, never has, any Windows Operating System.

Maybe you are thinking of Office XP Professional?
 
Not quite sure what you mean.

If you think that Excel comes free with XP or is part of it, this is
not the case.
