Xp Pro not recognizing hard drive during downloads

Xp will give a message it can not find the drive and ask
for one to be inserted with continue,retry, or cancel as
the error message. any ideas on how to fix this?

Try to boot from a Win98 (Yes! Win 98) floppy to see if you can get access
to the drive at least.
You might have a non-system disk (hard drive) and need to use the Win XP CD
to 'repair' it.
To do this, boot up with the CD in the drive and choose the 'repair' option.

May want to get NTFS for DOS from www.sysinternals.com for that Win98
Bootdisk or you aren't going to be able to access the drive if it is NTFS ;)

Also, when is it asking this, what disk specifically is it asking for,
etc.? Need a little more info.
