Every time I turn on my computer I get the "you have shut
down your computer incorrectly or hit the reset button"
message. So I select start windows normally or revert
back to last known good configuration. Then all I get is
a black screen. So I have to use the XP Pro 3.5 boot
disks and the XP pro CD installation disc to get back on
my computer. Then after I am finished using the computer
and I click shut down and wait for the computer to turn
off and then power off. The next time I reboot the
computer, I get the same black screen and have to do the
boot disk thing again. What should I do?

You appear to have a problem with your hard disk.

Try using the Hibernate function and see if it gives the samer result.

If so, go out and buy yourself a new Hard Drive and prepare for hours of rebuilding your software confiuration. Make sure you run the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to save all you stuff onto a BIG file on the current Hard Drive, then bring it onto the new Hard Drive using the wizard again.

I tried the hibernate function and that seems to work
fine. I do not get the black screen and everything works
as normal. Could it still be my hard drive?
