Trying to set up small home network. Two computers both
running XP Pro SP2. Computer A can successfully connect
to Computer B, but Computer B cannot connect to Computer
A.
Receiving message after doing run from Computer B
\\computerA\share - "the referenced account is
currently locked out and
may not be logged on to."

On Computer A, when trying to log on with same user
account, I recieve the message:

"the local policy of this system does not permit
you to logon interactively."

What do these messages mean and how can I make them go
away?

Ryan,

The first message means that the account on Computer A, the equivalent of the
one on Computer B currently in use, is locked out. Possibly because you have
not synchronised the passwords. Network access requires accounts with identical
passwords on both computers. Or it may mean that the account is explicitly
locked on Computer A.

The second message generally means that the account that you are trying to use
to logon, while it may be valid for network access, is not valid for local logon
at this time. If you logon as an administrator, and look at Local Security
Policy (Control Panel - Administrative Tools), Security Settings - Local
Policies - User Rights Assignment, at "Deny logon locally", you should find that
account listed in that policy.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
