I have just upgraded to XP Pro and none of the Windows 2000 computers can
access the XP machine, although they can see it. The message I get on the
Win2000 machines is "logon failure:user account restrictions". I upgraded
the machine from Win2000 to XP pro. Does anyone know how to fix this.

Cheers

Mark,

If the server (computer you're trying to access) is running XP Pro, and it
returns this error to the clients, then it's a simple fix. There are a pair of
Local Security Policy settings, under User Rights Assignment, "Deny access to
this computer from the network", and "Access this computer from the network". In
order for Guest to have access thru the network, "Guest" may not be in the first
list, and "Everyone" must be in the second.

Thank you very very much
I used the link you gave me and it solved the problem. all I had to do was
activate the guest account.
C:\net user Guest /active:yes
you have to leave a space representing the password or it will not work,
took a moment to figure that out.

Mark,

Thanks for the update, and the feedback. I will try and indicate the importance
of using spaces.
