Hi
I am running XP Pro over a LAN, and recently noticed that
on the Logon screen, the password i type is visible as my
real password, rather than ******** as it should be. Can
anyone give me some clues as to what may have happened,
and how to get the problem solved.

Thanks in advance

Ian

Check your machine for either virus, trojan or any form of spyware that may
be faking the login screen.
Also press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice quickly to bring up the classic dialog box or
this may disrupt the trojan if one is running.
Your administrator should ideally have the environment set as to require a
CTRL-ALT-DEL to initiate a logon to help guard against such attacks.

If you are not the victim of such an attack then contact your administrator
you may need to confirm all the system files are OK with a system file check
scan (SFC) or a repair install.
