I am running XP Pro and I had a customized logon screen
in the folder: c:\windows\resources\logons\supercar.exe.
Two days ago I just turned my PC on and it booted fine
until it got to the logon screen, where it stopped. I
figured my logon screen had got corrupted, tried to boot
in safe mode - failed, tried 'Last known good' - failed.
I booted from the CD and logged on to the recovery
console and replaced my custom logon screen with one from
c:\windows\system32\logonui.exe. I rebooted and the same
thing happened - got the default blue background screen
and no user accounts.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue?

Please help, I am desperate. Got homework due in a few
days.

Thanx
Saab

Your system is screwed up (duh), so I'd recommend the following (and you
might not like it):
1) Reinstall winXP
2) Buy and/or use good antivirus protection.
3) Always keep your system up to date on windows update.
4) Consider using a firewall.
5) Consider not using your computer as admin. The problem with that is that
since you are admin, all programs you run get the same permissions you do.
Also, if you accidentally delete something important ... you get the
picture.
6) Use cryptic passwords -- harder to guess, therefore harder to hack.
