Hi,

Asus A7N8xE-Delux mb with SATA drives (non raid)
Updated from 1009 to 1011.

Now I see XPpro start up screen with moving bar and then a brief flash of a
blue screen and then reboot.
I cannot get into safe mode.

I do have a copy of previos bios on floppy.

I've read that a boot from XP CD will permit a repair/recovery of my XP
install might do the trick.

Please advise.

thanks

Lindsay

Neil,

I updated the bios because there is supposedly a "conflict" with the SATA
controller bios and the asus boards such that data gets corrupted on the sata
drive - this indeed happened to one of sata drives.
I am hoping that I might be able to rescue the corrupted drive data once my
pc is in order......

Thanks for the confirmation on the XP repair.

PS. The copy of the 1009 bios is actually on my hard drive not the floppy.

Neil,

Tried the repair procedures last night - no dice.

No safe mode either - same thing almost boots and then BSOD flash and then
reboot.

I am going to try and recover the 1009 bios file and go backwards to a
functioning box hopefully.

What irks me the most is what I can't find out is waht the BSOD message is.

One guy video taped his machine to figure it out......

The quest continues.

I miss dos.

Hi again,
You can enter the recovery console and that will allow you to enter the
drive in a cmd prompt mode. I think there is some explanation of that on the
page I gave you before.

Best of luck
Neil
